This is a journal about a young girl suffering from Mito--a rare disease with no known cure. Amanda takes you into her day-to-day world, her fight against the disease, her hopes, her dreams, and her big life lessons that leaves everyone thinking How can I be a better person?
Having since read Amanda's journal, I have often found myself asking, "How would Amanda handle this? What would Amanda do?" Amanda was and IS an amazing young girl who lead a difficult life, but one with diginity and grace and love. Her lessons and always positive upbeat attitude toward life is her gift to those her read her book.
I have adult onset Mitochondrial Myopathy. I have also been the caregiver for a family member who dealt with many pic line and jtube issues.
With that said, I found this book to be permeated with the joy that was Amanda.
Ignore the occasional garbled sentences and feel life lived to the fullest.
